The wife of one of the victims confesses to the triple homicide

Judicial information was opened on Thursday against a man suspected of killing his partner, his 3-year-old son and his sister-in-law in Amiens in mid-April, after the suspect confessed to attempting suicide, prosecutors said. .

The prosecution has requested the arrest of this 48-year-old man, investigated for “murder of a minor” and “murder at the hands of his spouse”, said the Amiens prosecutor Alexandre de Bosschère, in a press release.

Heard at the University Hospital of Amiens, “he admitted to having killed his partner” Jennifer, 25, a “murder by strangulation” that “according to his statements would have occurred during the weekend of April 9 and 10, in a context of dispute after a strong alcoholic drink on his part”.

“Necessarily the author” of the other two homicides

“Less explicit” about the fate of little Eliam and his sister-in-law, Amélia, 26, “however, he admitted that he was necessarily the author” of their murders, the prosecutor added.

The first genetic analyzes made it possible to identify his and Amélia’s DNA on a blood-covered knife found near the young woman’s body. “Other DNA traces (…) tend to confirm her responsibility in these crimes.”

According to the suspect, the girl would have been killed on Monday and Amélia on Tuesday, a chronology that “for the moment remains uncertain”, according to the prosecutor.

Questioning around two SMS

Searches of the victims’ cell phones “determined” that the suspect had “deliberately brought his sister-in-law on Monday night, claiming he had good news to tell her.” She showed no signs of life after arriving at the apartment, and if an SMS was sent from her phone that night “it is possible to doubt that she is the author”.

“The same observation was made regarding an SMS” that Jennifer would have sent on April 10 to warn her employer of an absence.

On Wednesday morning, the man bought “an electric nailer” with which “he tried to commit suicide by driving seven nails several centimeters into his head, neck and chest.” “The next morning, he again tried to take his own life by crashing into a truck with Amélia’s vehicle.”

The three victims had been discovered in the couple’s apartment on April 15, following a call from a concerned family member. The suspect was arrested on Wednesday. Known to justice for acts of forgery, fraud or undercover work, he “has never been convicted of acts of violence,” according to the prosecutor.
